The difference between a good family and a bad family

Family is a very important thing in my life as it should be, but for people in the book The Outsiders family isn't an important thing. Some people don't have parents, some people have parents that abuse them and others have parents that won't say no and let them do whatever they want until something bad happens. Sometimes I wonder if I didn't have good parents what would happen to me and what I would do. Maybe the children in "The Outsiders" wonder the same thing but they wonder what if they had parents. Family is so important that it they change a persons live and sometimes it can be in a good way or a bad way!

Family can change a person. It can change the way they think, the way the look at life, and a big way they can change a person is the way they act. Bob in The Outsiders has very nice and kind parents but they are so kind and love Bob so much they never say no just to let him do what he wants. Sometimes that could be fun but in Bob's case he tries to do whatever he can to make them say no. He gets drunk, beats up the greaser, and tries anything that he think his parents would finally get mad at him and say no once in a while but that never happens. Well trying to get in trouble something terrible ends up happening and Bob dies. If Bob's parents would have said no to him once in a while and had some rules that would have made Bob a better person and he might not be dead.

Bob's parents always said yes and it hurt them and him in the long run but for Dallas he never had a no or a yes. Dallas was older then most of the others in the gang and he was also the bad one out of them. He never had any parents to influence him to do the right thing. Every since he was little he has been bad and always stole things from gas stations because he doesn’t have anything else. Dallas having no parents reminds me of Harry Potter because he also didn't have any parents to influence him to do the right thing and to help him threw out life.

All parents are different in their own way. Some parents are very nice in fact to nice that they never say no and that can eventually hurt their child. Other parents are so mean and abusive of their child and it messes them up forever. Then there are children that don't have any parents and either live by themselves or have to go into foster care. Many parents are different and try to either help their child or they don't really care. Parents have a big influence of their children and some parents don't realize it and make a big mistake that ruins their children's lives.

Ponyboy-- "The Outsiders"

Author's Note: The purpose of this piece is to summarize the character Ponyboy in the book "The Outsiders" but also show my opinion. I would like feedback on if I showed enough opinion or if I didn't!

In the book "The Outsiders" Ponyboy is a 14 year old boy who lives with is two older brothers Darry and Sodapop because his parents died in an accident. He is very poor and is called a greaser because of it. He is very smart and stays in school unlike everyone else in his gang that dropped out including his brothers. After Darry hits Ponyboy and Johnny kills a soc Ponyboy realizes that Darry is so strict because he wants him to be successful unlike him and Sodapop. In my opinion Ponyboy is misjudged because he is poor and doesn't live on the West side by the smart people. Everyone thinks that because he is a greaser which I don't think it true because he is very smart and nice and never likes to get into fights or steal anything. He is a good kid and no one knows he is except for his gang!
